It all began last year, when three friends from the Military Technical Academy “Ferdinand I” shared a bold idea: to bring together, for the very first time, Romania’s scattered quantum community. That vision took shape as the first Romanian edition of Qiskit Fall Fest — an event that sparked connections between passionate students, dedicated researchers, and forward‑thinking industry experts.
What started as a single gathering quickly grew into a vibrant ecosystem. Over the following months, this community collaborated in hackathons, shared knowledge at quantum events, and proved that Romania has both the talent and the drive to make its mark in the quantum era.
Now, with an expanded team and renewed ambition, RoQTeam is stepping into a new chapter. Our mission is to weave the quantum realm into Romania’s STEM landscape — not as a distant, abstract concept, but as a hands‑on, accessible field of exploration. Through events, courses, and interactive lessons, we aim to inspire the next generation of innovators, empower learners at every level, and build a lasting bridge between education, research, and industry.
BreaQ — Breaking the Boundaries of Quantum Uncertainty — is RoQTeam’s flagship annual event, created with the Politehnica University of Bucharest and the Military Technical Academy “Ferdinand I”. It brings together students, researchers, and industry experts for scientific presentations, interactive courses, and a dynamic quantum hackathon, all designed to make quantum technologies accessible, engaging, and part of Romania’s growing STEM landscape.

In 2024, RoQTeam, together with the Military Technical Academy “Ferdinand I” and the Politehnica University of Bucharest, organized Romania’s first Qiskit Fall Fest — an event that brought together students, researchers, and industry experts from across the country under the theme World of Quantum. Over several weeks, participants explored quantum technologies through expert‑led lectures, interactive workshops, and an in‑person hackathon hosted at the Academy’s campus in Bucharest. The event fostered new connections, encouraged collaboration, and helped lay the foundations for a growing national quantum community that continues to thrive today.
